Anyone ever heard of this? My AC has always been ice cold until about 6 months ago - then it just went warm. Everything seemed to work, heard it click on, motor pulled down etc. Took it in to a local place that still does R12 and they tried to charge it, but heard a leak in the dash. They got down there with mirrors and think it is my evaporator leaking. I am not crazy about replacing a $500 part because they THINK that is where it is coming from, but with my searching I don't see anything else that is prone to leaking in there. I have done no work in that area, so I could not have punctured it or anything. Did not find any posts where I saw this happen to anyone else either. Just a leak showed up in the evaporator. Anything else I should consider in there? At the very least I want to replace all I should while I am in there. Anything else I should buy? I might take a stab at doing this myself, but I won't be able to test it until I am done. Any advice or write ups anyone knows about? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
